Steve - Display Standee

I am working on a new table display for the fall conventions. I created an oversize Badmonkeybrain display piece for Heroes con on foamboard. I came up with the idea of a lifesize steve standee.

Heroes Con 2009 -recap

Thursday
After arriving at the hotel, I met up with Tim Fischer and Adam Talley and we checked out the convention hall,

It reminded me alot of Baltimore. Had dinner with Iszy Iszard and Jerry Carr and we talked about the weekend. Got back to the hotel bar and met a bunch of people from the podcast including Mark Brooks & Mark Walters. Downside of the night was slamming my hand in between 2 chairs and caused me to knuckle punch people all weekend so that I didnt cry like a little girl.

Friday
I split a booth with Rand Arrington, Jerry Carr, & Iszy Iszard.

We set up the Bad Monkey Brain booth. A member of out Art Klub Mariah helped us run the booth over the weekend.

After setting up the booth, I walked the floor and saw Lora Innes of “The Dreamer” and her buddy Asha whom I met at SPACE a few months earlier. I was schooled how to correctly pronounce her name by someone at my booth (It is pronounced like Guiness). One treasure of the weekend was my Danielle Corsetto commission, a beautiful piece with Hazel & Jaime with Steve.
Had a nice dinner with the bad monkerybrain crew at a pizza joint called Brixx. After dinner, I worked on a Black Cat piece with Tim & Adam back in their room.

Saturday
Saturday morning I got into the hall early and continued working on my piece for the auction. I had alot of fun working on the piece and getting instant feedback, was very nice.

I met another podcaster and talented artist Cat Skaggs. I fell for her piece for the auction. A really nice piece superhero with a haunting cityscape.

Saturday night after the show, went over to the auction and as soon as I entered the room they were auctioning my Black Cat piece. It had some nice competitive bidding and it sold for $75. Very nice. Jerry Carr’s batgirl piece sold $150, and Rand Arrington’s Chipmonk piece sold for $75. Lora’s Rogue piece sold for $200.

Mark Brooks did a beautiful Scarlett Witch piece.

Sunday
I bought a nice Rob Ullman print that I have wanted since SPX. I had a small Ms. Marvel piece in the silent auction. It went for $30 which was nice, I gave the buyers some copies of my books after they bought it. Iszy created an awesome Galactus commision for a fan.

Lora surprised me with a gourmet cheesecake on a stick because she heard it was my birthday. It was really good.

Took a group shot with the other podcasters, met a few more of the guys like Brian Denham & JJ.

At the end of the day, I said my goodbyes and Rand & I hopped into the car did our 7 hour drive back to VA. A good weekend.
